10/14/2011 - Uglyography is pleased to welcome not one, but TWO new guitarists to its family. Look out for show dates very soon!

3/25/11
- Uglyography is the featured band in The Virginian-Pilot's "Pulse" this week. View the online version of the story. Thanks to Patty Jenkins for talking with us and for getting the word out!

We're very happy to announce a new show date at The Jewish Mother Backstage in Norfolk. We'll be opening for the Philly band Creeping Weeds on Wednesday April 13 when they stop here on their tour. The Jewish Mother's legacy in Hampton Roads is rich and has stood the test of time, and we're happy to see them open this new location and really show love for touring and local bands alike! More details here.

3/23/11 - Attention bands and solo performers: Please join us this Saturday, March 26 at Goody's for an open jam following full sets by Uglyography and Alpha Whale (first show with their new member!). We will open the stage and provide equipment to keep the music rockin all night! Music starts at 8:30.

Special Thanks to The Muckrakes, The Hampton Taphouse, and all of our fans that came out to support us at The Muckrakes CD Release Party. We had a blast! You should buy the new Muckrakes album. It rocks!

3/10/11 - Uglyography will jam a few songs live on YourMusicShow this Sunday at 2pm. Listen live here or catch the episode anytime after the fact.

Huge thanks to jESIO at AltDaily.com for including an album review and praise for Uglyography in her weekly Groove Advisory. Read this week's Groove Advisory.

3/7/11 - New show announcements! Uglyography will rock Winston's Cafe in Chesapeake on Saturday April 30. We are providing local support from a touring singer/songwriter from L.A. called Suzy Skarulis. She rocks! We're looking for one other local act to join us. Hit us up!

3/2/11 - New Uglyography Media from Photographer Chris Jenkins is now posted. Chris is a talented photographer and has one of the most interesting perspectives I've seen lately. Watch his first stop-motion video featuring "My Brain" for the soundtrack (it is AWESOME and is about Gummy Bears), and take a look at a few of his photos from the CD Release Party. Thanks Chris!

2/25/11 - We'd like to extend a HUGE THANKS to everyone who came out to our CD Release Party! The list of thanks is way to long to list here but you all know who you are. If you missed it, or didn't get a CD, you can order one right here!

Now we have another show to be very excited about: We'll be opening the show for the The Muckrakes CD Release Party! March 19 at The Hampton Taphouse. Be there!

2/17/11 - CD Releases are in the air! The Muckrakes have asked us to join them for their CD Release Party on March 19 at The Hampton Taphouse! Can't Wait!

Our own CD Release Party is only 2 days away! Popular Vultures, The Asthmatics, and the hosts from YourMusicShow will be providing nonstop entertainment beginning at 8pm this Saturday, Feb. 19.

Who says that the CD format is dead??

2/12/11 - Big Thanks to Paul Shugrue for playing Uglyography this week on Out of the Box (WHRO Public Radio). Paul plays new music normally not featured on broadcast radio, and that includes a fair share of Hampton Roads artists. Big ups for supporting the locals Paul!

2/4/11 - The first official review for Uglyography's new disc Undercover New Machine has been published! Andy at The Biggest Letdown had great things to say about the album. Big thanks to Andy! Check out the Review.

2/1/11 - NEW SHOW ADDED. We had the pleasure of meeting SICMaN of Virginia and watching them play a kitchen set live on YourMusicShow. Next thing you know we have an opening slot for them at one of the finest establishments in the area: SICMaN of Virginia with Uglyography at The Norfolk Taphouse on Friday April 8. Thanks SICMaN, we're stoked to be makin some noise with you guys!

1/30/11 - NEW SHOW ADDED to the calendar. Many of my fondest moments of musical performance come from Goody's Deli and Pub in downtown Hampton. Uglyography will return to Goody's on March 26. Sweet! More details TBA. If any local original acts would like to get in touch with us about sharing shows, contact us - Let's Make a Scene, as they say!

Don't forget about the big upcoming CD RELEASE SHOW at The American Theatre on February 19, 8PM. The Asthmatics and Popular Vultures (both from Hampton) will be rockin it with us. Free show at a classy place on a Saturday night, what more could you ask for?

1/29/11 - Undercover New Machine now available exclusively on the southside at SKINNIES RECORDS. Steve stocks an huge amount of great vinyl. I just scored Social Distortion's new double LP with bonus CD and poster for $19.99. It's the best vinyl package I've seen for a while. (Looking forward to Social D. at The Norva in May).

Of course, this is not to undermine the incredible selection at both Fantasy and American Oldies, which also carry our disc for the peninsula. I've had great scores from all of them lately ... Double Monkees LP, Queen, Keith Richards ...

Great music stores actually do still exist around here!

I'm really looking forward to this evening's local music extravaganza at The Norva, brought to you by YourMusicShow. Yes! Let's Make a Scene! These guys are definitely doing their part.

Official Press Release on Undercover New Machine:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Uglyography brings Quirkadelic sophomore album to the Mid-Atlantic.

Hampton, Virginia, USA - January 11, 2011 - After several years of performing solo and touring the region with a CD-R serving as a backup band, Uglyography is now being reborn in Hampton, VA with a full band outfit and a sophomore album. The new disc, Underover New Machine was released on January 11, 2011 on the band's own Steamy Attic Records label. The group began making appearances in September 2010 in Hampton Roads and will be celebrating with a CD release show on February 19, 2011 at 8 pm at The American Theatre in Hampton. Fellow Hampton bands Popular Vultures and The Asthmatics will open the show. Admission will be free.

Undercover New Machine is a collection of 13 compositions from frontman and bassist Matt Thomas (formerly of The Outer Loop and Lord Bowler). The album blends early punk rock energy and ideas (Descendents, Minutemen) with quirky catchy melodies (a la They Might Be Giants, Ween). The diverse musical blend mixed with rock-opera style lyrics define the essense of the Quirkadelic genre that Uglyography creates. The album was mastered by John Golden (Primus, Jawbreaker, Sonic Youth) and the cover art was crafted by the UK lowbrow artist Doktor A. (www.spookypop.com)

Guitarist Nate Kofron and drummer Al DiMaggio round out Uglyography's energy-driven live ensemble. They are planning extensive regional touring for 2011. Keep abreast of the band's latest ventures at www.uglyography.com and www.steamyatticrecords.com.
